PICK UP TIP #1
Always be prepared for the the absolute unexpected;
you never know where you just may meet that Mr/Miss Right……
And usually will be when your absolutely not expecting it, looking your
absolute worst and doing something particularly not flattering.
Last night we were supposed to be taking all the kids; my two, Sherene’s four and my brother’s four to the movies but we missed the session so they picked out
a heap of movies, unfortunately they didn’t have that movie you suggested but I’ll pick it up elsewhere next week, for us all to have a movie night in.
I had just returned from my extended walk and changed into some ultra comfortable but also extremely daggy attire and was not planning on venturing outdoors again for the night. My sister decided to stock up on some goodies to snack on while we were enjoying the movies and somehow twisted my arm to tag along to the local petrol station, insisting I didn’t need to leave the car, so I grabbed one of the boys size 11 thongs and probably mum’s most ever unusual would not want to be caught dead in scarf and shirt and we headed off. I turned the engine off and waited for her. Naturally she was struggling between which chocolates and lollies to pick, and I was very experienced in this department so again she talked me into leaving the comfort of the car, besides it was unlikely I would bump into anyone significant or so I thought. So we went a bit overboard, I mean it was 10 kids plus 2 adults we were feeding and we completely filled the counter with a very comprehensive assortment of lolly bags, chips, twisties, chocolates, biscuits and 2 tubs of icecream.
Then of course when I completely wasn’t expecting it, someone leaned in and mentioned that it looked like we had an intense movie night ahead and we’re pretty well stocked. As I turned to smile or comment or merely make mention that
yes indeed, however it was for a full crowd; my jaw nearly hit the floor. It was
the cutest stranger that I had spoken to in a very long time so naturally nothing
I tried to say actually came out right plus I was incredibly self conscious about how ridiculous I must have looked wearing a piece of everyone but my own’s clothing. He seemed amused and continued to ask what movies were we planning to watch. But hang on I needed to explain that the abundant collection of totally bad for you, junk food was for 11 other people definately excluding myself coz I was after all on this incredibly strict diet that I had no intention of breaking and was certainly not having a binge out. Somehow he didn’t look that convinced with his huge gorgeous smile stretched across his face as I stumbled tongue twisted through my explanation and could feel my cheeks also giving me away as they felt hot and I knew they must have been bright red.
We grabbed our several bags of shopping and headed towards the door and he turned to wave and remind us to enjoy ourselves. Yeah, will I yelled back half sarcastically, cringing at the shocking impression I must have left him with, not only appearance wise, but also looking like I could consume humongous amounts of junk and what kind of a figure must I be hiding under my mum’s oversized unflattering top.
At least I wouldn’t have to face him again, I’d certainly fill up petrol elsewhere, or so I thought wrongly again.
Next day I’d been on one of my extended pretend toilet visits and as I was heading up the escalator I heard a familiar voice, asking me how the movies were. I turned slowly and of course it was him and gosh I nearly fell off. Could have been worse I guess, at least I’d finished my coffee otherwise it was quite possible that he may have ended up wearing it.
