Mel: Okay Ken now that’s pretty much all you need to know about WHAMMing, you should be top notch and hey here’s a customer now, I’ll leave you to it, so go ahead and WHAMM away.
Ken: Thanks Mel, I’m sure I’ve got it.
Ken approaches customer at the counter. Customers name is Michael
Ken: Hi there, so how can I help you today?
Michael: Hello, well I’d like a toothbrush please?
Ken: Sure but before I am able to provide that to you I just need to ask you a series of questions first to make sure it is an appropriate product choice for you, is that okay?
Michael: Yes, well fire away.
Ken: Who is it for?
Michael: Me
Ken: Good that makes it a lot easier, and so How long have you had it for?
Michael: You mean my previous toothbrush, well I know that you really are supposed to change them quite frequently and I haven’t exactly been that great with that but that’s just coz I’ve been so busy working and studying and I’ve just not had the time but that’s why I’m here today and well 3 years.
Ken: Mmm not good…and so What action have you taken so far?
Michael: This round and round and a little bit up and down and then the gums and well if your adventurous you can actually brush your tongue as well, but I’m not really one to try that but I am very particular with the other bits and
for no less than 2 minutes, and I even have a little egg timer in the bathroom. (Michael does a little demo with a pretend toothbrush)
Ken: Impressive technique, and so Michael, how old are you?
Michael: Um oh me or my toothbrush?
Ken: You?
Michael: I have been told that I look a lot older than I actually am but that’s just coz I fast tracked school and kind of had to try and make myself look a lot older to fit in and well 21.
Ken: And how much do you weigh?
Michael: Crikey, okay I weigh a bit more than I should I know, but I have started this intense exercise regime and do intend to start watching what I eat, and I’m sure I’ll be a lot lighter next time I’m in, do you think I could perhaps answer that question next visit please?
Ken: Sorry no, now weight in kilos please?
Michael: 75kg
Ken: Do you suffer from any allergies?
Michael: Beestings, some cheeses and well I do get this funny thing happen to me when I eat certain shell fish and the other day I used this new sunscreen and went very red, but I’m not sure if that was an allergic reaction to the cream or because I forgot to reapply it after the four hours and just got really badly sun burnt.
Ken: Do you take any other medications; that is prescription ones but also over the counter and anything herbal too?
Michael: Nothing on prescription, fit as fiddle as you can probably tell, with the exception of those few extra kilos, I do take a Panadol occasionally for a headache, but only if it is a very bad one and well some multi vitamins for when I’m too busy to eat properly and then some glucosamine for an old knee injury when I played football a few years ago and yes that’s all.
Ken: Are you pregnant?
Michael: Huh! No!
Ken: Or Breastfeeding?
Michael: No!
Ken walks over to toothbrush section stands for a while trying to decide which one as there really is a huge choice and returns with one.
Ken: Okay, that’s $4.99
Michael: But aren’t you going to ask about size, hard or soft or what colour I wanted?
Ken: Nope, that’s not on the list.
Michael: Okay here’s $5.00 thankyou.
Ken: One more, would you like a bag?
Michael nodds, Ken bags toothbrush and Michael walks away with a bewildered exasperated expression.
Ken looks extremely proud of himself and gives Mel a glance, she gives that OMG this guy needs heaps of work, what on earth am I going to do with him, forced smile back.
