Well there is something more hazardous than me being my scattered self and not concentrating and that is me being my scattered self, not concentrating and tired. Quite a recipe for maximum catastrophe as one poor customer discovered today. Well to be honest I really think that it actually wasn’t my fault as she seemed to jump out from nowhere armed with several shopping bags and a boyfriend who was just in the way so consequently when I collided with her obviously all her shopping bags went everywhere followed by her boyfriend who fell into the hairspray display which caused products to fly dangerously in all directions and well it did cause some chaos as the shop was pretty full of people it being Sunday and all so I had to do some quick thinking and thought it would be best to do a Peter Sellers and just slip discretely away pretending that not only did I not work here but I wasn’t even shopping in this store, so everyone could fight amongst themselves as to who was at fault.<\/p>\n
I did eventually return and was serving some customers when the lady whose fault the whole crisis was presented at the counter with a basketfull of shopping. I played totally oblivious and pretended I’d never seen her before and then realised she was actually buying one of my books. Normally I would make some comment but remained silent on this occassion as I didn’t want to take any longer than necessary for fear that she would recognize me. Then she mentioned that there was a sign saying that you could request an autographed copy of the book (thanks Reyhan, excellent idea, not!) So I mentioned quickly that I wrote it and quickly scribbled an autograph. Then the big mouthed boyfriend butted in and asked what the story was about and I started to say ; about an accident prone pharmacist….. anyway that was it, well he lost it and she lost it and then I lost it and it ended with him commenting that it was obviously not a fictional story at all!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
