Well in the week leading up to the very well publicized \u2018V day\u2019, I go into a bit of a panic actually. Rushing madly around destroying all the catalogs splattered in love hearts. How rude is it to just outright ignore my \u201cNO JUNK MAIL\u201d sign plastered all over my letterbox. I guess we all have a different definition of the word \u2018junk\u2019. I remove anything red from sight and make sure there are no movies or books with the word \u2018love\u2019 in them lying around, (this includes; \u2018First Love By Prescription\u2019. On the evening before, I change the radio station to ABC to ensure that we don\u2019t wake up to a \u2018love song\u2019 and get up extra early to quickly slip out of my nightie and into a drab t-shirt and very unflattering track pants, definitely not a \u2018sexy\u2019 look.<\/p>\n
I head downstairs and instead of switching onto the regular<\/p>\n
Morning show that we always watch, that is definitely bound to mention it, I switch to SBS which has some foreign show in a different language in a remote country that I\u2019m sure won\u2019t have heard of Valentine\u2019s Day. I curl up on the couch and pretend to look interested and hoping that my beloved partner of too many years has not remembered this very memorable day.<\/p>\n
Well no such luck! He heads downstairs and sits opposite and greets me with a chirpy good morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo do you know what day it is today?\u201d he asks. I play dumb.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, is it something special?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, actually it\u2019s Valentine\u2019s Day and do you know the history behind it?\u201d<\/p>\n
Well of course I bloody do, he only reminds of it every single Valentine\u2019s day without fail, so I sit back ready for the completely extended uncut, long drawn out and not missing bits history lesson about this soldier and his single troops and St Valentine and blah, blah boring blah.<\/p>\n
Luckily I\u2019m not a big fan of fresh flowers, I mean they just die and remind you that well love does that too, it just dies and heck if I had to wait for Valentines day to satisfy my chocolate fix, well I\u2019d die of withdrawal. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
