Things like the seemingly simple task of internet banking. Not quite as easy as it seems.

Well you first of all get onto your computer and get into the banks website. Well you can certainly be pretty clueless to get this bit right, and that doesn’t usually even tap into any of your brain cells as it usually is the bank name.com.au and even the most totally incompetetant of us should be able to get that far. I certainly didn’t have any problems there, but it was actually the getting into your account info that is well quite challenging actually. The ‘login’ bit.

First you have to type in your customer id number. This should technically be a given as it’s actually written on the back of your card so all you have to do is actually copy it. Not too hard one might think, however it is in an extremely tiny font, I mean what the hell, is it size 0.2 and how unfair is it to have triple one and they all seem to merge into each other, so I think it’s pretty reasonable for one to perhaps make a mistake transposing this number, particularly if you’ve got

Some screaming kids in the background, are in a hurry or……..even if you don’t have any distractions going on

Then there is the actual password well now this is really challenging, I mean they always say that it should never be something logical like a dob or something that would be quite straight forward and easy to remember but remember life is not mean’t to be easy. So what obscure combination of numbers and letters was it again… Oh yeah I remember. So carefully and well I may as well be blindfolded actually because it doesn’t even show you what you are doing so you kind of have to hope for the best and hit log on. What ‘incorrect id or password’! Well it would be helpful if it actually told you which was actually incorrect, I mean it’s 50/50. Oh heck I just noticed the caps lock button light on, yes that’s right I do recall password is actually case sensitive, well a prompt reminding me of this would have been appreciated, never mind so I ………………….

What the password has been reset and I’m blocked from trying again and that includes telephone banking. Well that’s a bit rough so I endeavor to find a contact us number… obviously not easy to find.

Then there is the automated phone service and naturally what you want to do is not an option… Hmm actually speak to someone, get a new password, well they don’t exactly fit into any of the options. Let’s listen again…. no definitely not any of those well I think if you hit zero when you are on the phone to Telstra usually puts you onto someone, I’ll try that.. no obviously not that I’ve just been disconnected.

Back on bloody hold what this is ridiculous 45 mins already…

On no holy crap I’ve just moved right up in the queue and now the battery low light is flashing…. No no holy crap! Flat!!

Finally get thru……

Security questions… well sure that should be simple enough….

What kind of a security question is that.. Bloody hell! I’ve failed the security check. I’m completely blocked out of telephone and internet banking..

Ask me anything else, surely I can pass a test about myself….

INTERNET BANKING STRESS INTERNET BANKING STRESS Some day to day seemingly simple tasks are just sent to try us.
